MADAM,

In the last two editions of the Monmouthshire Beacon you have kindly drawn attention to Rotary’s Community Champions project. On behalf of Monmouth Rotary, I would like to thank you very much for doing this.

The project has been partly inspired by Monmouth Rotary being awarded £1000 by Persimmon Homes, under their Community Champions scheme. This is in recognition of the rotary’s work in the local community. We are putting this cash to good use in Monmouth by encouraging residents to not only identify where improvements would be beneficial to the town but to form a group to realise this. The £1000 award will be used to provide initial funding.

Forming a group to champion the community has other benefits. Not only will it contribute to the vitality of the town, it offers chances for friendship and having a good time. Apart from keeping on the right side of the law, there are no restrictions on what such a group might do!

Your two previous editions of the Beacon have drawn attention to the meeting that Rotary is arranging to consider the way forward. If any of your readers have views about what could be done in Monmouth to make a positive difference to peoples’ lives, and would like to meet socially with others to realise this ambition, then we would very pleased if they came along. All ideas will be welcome.

The meeting will take place at The Gate House on Thursday 19th January at 6pm. Refreshments (free!) will be available. For further information, or to book a place, please call Pete Walters on 01600 860399 or email [email protected] We would love to hear from you.
