The team at Gwent charity Sparkle is walking or running the perimeter of Wales this month as part of its Go the Distance challenge.
Collectively, Sparkle team members will walk the equivalent of the 1,050 mile distance in their quest to raise funds and improve their fitness.
Staff at Caerphilly Children’s Centre, Neville Hall Children’s Centre and Serennu Children’s Centre havel hit the ground running (or walking!) from St David’s Day, March 1, with each pushing themselves daily to reach the target. Participants in the Go the Distance for Sparkle challenge set their own challenge target and how they will achieve it, by foot or on wheels.
Children and adults of all ages can take part whether your challenge is 20 steps, 20,000 steps, one mile or 30 miles a day.
Sparkle fundraising manager Ian Edwards said: “We cannot ask others to take part in our Go the Distance challenge without the team also giving it our best shot.
‘‘Our goal is to continue to raise awareness of how Sparkle makes a big difference to the lives of the children and young people we support.
‘‘We rely on fundraising activities to generate the income that helps us to continue our support of Gwent children and young people with disabilities and/or developmental difficulties, and their families.
‘‘We hope to encourage others to Go the Distance. As Spring brings warmer weather and more daylight, what could be better than getting fitter, fresh air and raising funds for a local charity?”
