Last Wednesday, (June 12), Cllr Paul Griffiths, Deputy Leader at MCC responded to the deficiencies identified in the Gateway to Wales Action Group report on the Revised Local Development Plan (RLDP) and the proposal to build a large housing estate off Dixton Road.

Over 60 residents attended the meeting at The Priory and voiced concerns about the huge impact such a development would have on the town, including such issues as environmental damage, flooding, traffic congestion and the detrimental visual impact the development would have on the Gateway to Wales.

David Cummings, Chair of the Group said afterwards that he thought Cllr Griffiths was listening to residents’ concerns. David said the next step would be to hold another meeting in mid-July at which detailed concerns could be addressed to county council officers about the housing development, otherwise referred to as Candidate Site CS0270. Officers due to the General Election were not allowed to attend last Wednesday. Our objective is to secure the removal of this site from the RLDP before the Deposit Plan is issued in October 2024.
