This new film from Exhibition on Screen has been made in collaboration with the National Gallery and its highly acclaimed “once-in-a-century” show, bringing this stunning exhibition to the big screen, along with a deep dive into Van Gogh’s fascinating life and incredible skill.  Explore the most exciting and dramatic time of Van Gogh’s life and one of art’s most pivotal periods, in this fabulous film using his letters to better understand this iconic artist.

Van Gogh is not only one of the most beloved artists of all time, but perhaps the most misunderstood. Focusing on his driving passions and unique creative process this film explores the artist’s years in the south of France, where he revolutionised his style and changed art forever. It is a celebration of his life and work, his engagement with poetry and love, his diligent research and ground-breaking use of colour.

The exhibition at the National Gallery, which brings together paintings from across the globe, some rarely seen in public, runs until mid January 2025. The film is a brilliant opportunity to gain new insights and see the paintings up close on the big screen.

Screened on Tuesday 26 November 7.30pm at The Drill Hall, Chepstow.
