Haberdashers' Monmouth School is set to host two outstanding concerts in the coming weeks, featuring world-class musicians and rising stars.
The first event, a Black-Tie String Concert, takes place on Thursday 13th February at 7.00pm in the Recital Hall of the PAC, St Catherine’s Campus.
This is the site of the former Monmouth School for Girls which is now the joint prep schools site.
This special performance marks the beginning of a new collaboration between the school and the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD).
Under the guidance of renowned violinist Lucy Gould, RWCMD’s Senior String Soloists will perform ‘The Day Dawn’ by contemporary composer Sally Beamish and ‘Serenade’ by Ernst Dohnányi. The evening will also feature a performance by the Haberdashers’ Monmouth Senior String Ensemble, showcasing the school’s exceptional young musicians.

The second concert, An Evening with Laura Potter, will be held on Friday 7th March at 7:30 PM. Acclaimed clarinetist Laura Potter will perform alongside pianist Derek Harris, featuring celebrated clarinet works including Finzi’s Bagatelles and Poulenc’s Clarinet Sonata, as well as rare pieces by Martinu, Holbrooke, and Widor.
Laura, a Howarth of London Single Reed Prize winner, is a founding member of Seren Winds and has played with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and Welsh National Opera. Her expressive and technically brilliant performances have earned her widespread acclaim.
