Plans to build 400 houses and further industrial units on the Wonastow Road have been brought one step closer to reality.
The plans were debated in a special meeting of Monmouthshire County Council in County Hall last Friday (1st July).
A vote of 20 for the development, and 15 against, was recorded, meaning the plans will now be entered into the deposit stage of Monmouthshire County Council's (MCC) Local Development Plan (LDP) for 2011 to 2021.
At the start of the meeting Cllr Bob Greenland, cabinet member for modernisation, enterprise and communications, said the meeting had been called to decide how Monmouthshire could be preserved and safeguarded for the future.
Cllr Greenland reminded people the decision made was not the end of the process and there would be a six-week consultation period later on to decide if the plan is sound.
