White Birch Manor, a historic Grade II* listed house run as a small events venue in Awre, Gloucestershire, will be hosting its annual open day on Saturday 28 September from 11am – 6pm.

The manor’s current owners Ruth and Symon moved in five years ago and every year since have organised an open day to share the stunning house with their local community and fundraise for charity.

Visitors are welcome to wander around the house and grounds, and this year’s open day is expected to be bigger than ever with traditional stalls, games (including a tug of war competition), live music and entertainment, a classic car and scooter show, plus plenty of delightful food and drink organised by Symon (who is White Birch Manor’s chef) on offer. Ruth said:

“Having the local community involved and seeing everyone come together to enjoy the house and grounds is really important to us. The house is a history lesson and a part of our heritage and although we are its current caretakers, we believe it should be shared. Our aim is for people to come and enjoy all the facilities on offer and create more great memories that will be forever remembered within the fabric of these walls.”

The open day is also a wonderful opportunity for Ruth and Symon to raise funds for charity, with the couple asking visitors to make a donation in lieu of an entrance fee. This year, Ruth and Symon are asking attendees to donate to Cure Parkinson’s and the MND Association, with the total amount split evenly between the two charities. This year’s event will also include a silent auction with a range of wonderful prizes up for grabs, hopefully helping to raise even more funds.

Ruth and Symon chose to support Cure Parkinson’s and the MND Association at this year’s open day as both Parkinson’s and motor neurone disease (MND) are causes close to their hearts. Ruth explained:
