A FORMER school music scholar has made his UK professional debut singing bass at Grange Park Opera.

Old Monmothian Christian Loizou recently graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

A Haberdashers' Monmouth spokesperson said: "At Monmouth School from 2013 to 2018 he was a vibrant part of the school’s musical community, participating in many musical groups, including the chapel choir and Barbershop ensemble.

"His exceptional talent and dedication were recognised by Director of Music, David Lawson, who awarded Christian a music scholarship”.

Christian is currently captivating audiences at the prestigious Grange Park Summer Festival in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko and Donizetti’s The Daughter of the Regiment before embarking on a masters degree at the Royal Northern College of Music.
