The PTFA of Overmonnow Primary School kicked off the celebrations for their 30th Year as a charity in style with Overmonnow Fest, raising a staggering £3,000 for whole school outdoor play equipment!
Almost 500 people attended the event in Monmouth and enjoyed the autumn themed open-air fete with stalls, food vendors, children’s rides and live entertainment which culminated in a spectacle in the sky from Pulzar Laser Show.
In the run up to the laser show finale, the crowds were kept thoroughly entertained by the fabulous line up of stage acts, Overmonnow Dance Club, Katie-Lou, Frankie Wesson and Mansel Davies.
Plenty of delicious food choices were also on offer from Miniyaki’s Japanese Soul Food, Isabel’s Bakehouse, Catering with Claire and Jason Watkins from Ross bouncy castle hire.
Organiser and Charity Trustee Caroline Thomas-Layne said, “We wanted this year to be special as it’s a great milestone to have been registered with the charity commission for 30 years. This event was months of hard work in the making but definitely worth it to see the smiles on all of the children’s faces and of course raise this fantastic amount for a much-needed new play area. Thank you so much to everybody that came and supported Overmonnow Fest and to the wonderful pupils, staff and family members of Overmonnow that helped organise and volunteered on the day”.
The PTFA arranged plenty of stalls and games for families to enjoy and purchase goods from. The Soap Foundry, All Glitzed Up, Luna Lux Witch, Debbie Cook, Hudson Avenue, Jewel Bug Designs, Hooked and Happy and Art Studio Ross lined the school’s two playgrounds with an inflatable slide, carousel ride and MHA’s silent disco. Ample to delight the whole family.
The evening ended with the highly anticipated Pulzar Laser Show. It began with sheer delight and excitement as Witches, bats and zombie’s flew across the sky above the playground to the crowd pleaser ‘Thriller’, followed by animations of elephants, dolphins and showers of stars to the sound of Disney’s Lion King and Frozen to name but a few. The crowds sang and danced along, looking to the sky in awe and amazement.
Caroline Thomas-Layne added, “Overmonnow Fest was a huge success and would not have been possible without the seven magnificent local businesses that sponsored it. Tri-Wall UK Limited, Robert Price, Precision Engineering Ltd, Price Heat LTD Plumbing & Heating, Wye Electrical Solutions Ltd, Wayne Vaughan Painting and Decorating and Wyefield Windows and Doors LTD.
