MONMOUTH Carnival 2016 was launched from Monnow Bridge with flags fluttering in the brilliant sunshine. Curious passers-by were given balloons, while members of the Carnival Group answered all their questions.

The parade starts at 2pm on Sunday 24th July, the first weekend of Monmouth Festival.

The day will feature a giant puppet making workshop in the Priory, Monmouth and from 1pm as the crowds gather, Monmouth Band will be playing in Agincourt Square.

Participants are asked to meet for final preparations in St Mary’s churchyard. All vehicles line up in Priory Street to join the noisy cavalcade down Monnow Street, finishing at Blestium Street. Prizes will be presented from the festival stage.

Whether you and your friends organise a float, drive a vintage car, decorate your van, scooter (mobility or otherwise) skateboard or bike, you will be very welcome.

Monmouth Carnival has become famous for the fantastic creativity of its walking entries.

Not only is it free to enter, but you might win the top prize of £100 or a trophy

Entry forms are available online at: www.monmouthcarnival.co.uk or on paper from Car Care, Monnow Street.

The winner will be driven in the parade down Monnow Street in a classic red sports car. The only other criterion is that they must be between seven and 107.
