The villagers started well enjoying the lion's share of possession, with most of the good work being created down the right through Kris Jordan and right back Steve Hollingsbee, who was up and down the pitch.
It seemed only a matter of time before the flood gates opened but chance after chance went begging with Chris Tyler coming the closest, rattling the cross bar with a long range effort.
Amazingly, Gilwern took the lead after some sloppy defending.
Raglan started the second half as they finished the first and just when it looked like it wasn't going to be, Carl Oxford popped up with his first senior goal.
He went round the centre half and smashed the ball into the net.
The next 20 minutes were all Eddie Murphy's. His first goal was a scorcher into the top corner and he soon bagged a second. He then completed his hat-trick with a glancing header.
Gilwern were not finished and pulled one back, Kris Jordan then took over and scored twice, both times squeezing the ball in from an acute angle.
Gilwern then got another consolation goal.
This six-three win takes Raglan within a point of leaders Llanarth, who slipped up against Usk, but Raglan have a game in hand.
Kris Jordan picked up yet another man-of-the-match award but it has to be said that Chris Tyler was superb and also Murphy and Hollingsbee were impressive.
Next week, Raglan travel to Llanfoist hoping to continue their push for the title.
