BRIDGES Community Centre’s new shop was officially opened last Friday (6th May) by the then-mayor of Monmouth, Councillor Graham Pritchard.
Cllr Pritchard praised the effort of all the volunteers and staff for making the shop so attractive. He also paid tribute to the work of Bridges which has been established for over 30 years and is going from strength to strength.
All money raised in the shop will go to support Bridges’ activities in Monmouthshire.
Mark Walton, centre director of Bridges, said: “The opening of this new shop in the centre of town marks a big step for Bridges in helping to raise its profile and awareness of the work that it does across Monmouthshire.
“We hope that the shop will be a centre of activity for people wanting to find out more about what we do and for volunteering opportunities.
“I would like to thank everyone who has helped set up the shop in record time and all who have generously donated goods for us to sell.
“It has been a fantastic team effort which will help to enable Bridges continue its valuable work in the community.”
Donations of good quality adult and children’s clothing, usable toys, saleable books and bric-a-brac can be dropped off at the shop or at Bridges Community Centre on Wonastow Road, Monmouth.
Bridges Community Centre was established in 1984 to support local people who were experiencing financial hardship and isolation.
The centre needs to raise nearly £700,000 every year in order to provide the community services on offer at the centre.
