A FEMALE drama teacher banned from teaching after asking a pupil for sex spent three months teaching in Monmouth.
Lindsay Black sent "sexually explicit" Facebook messages to a 17-year-old boy and held "discussions of an inappropriate and sexually explicit nature" in her Year 12 drama class at St Joseph's Roman Catholic High School in Newport.
A Professional Conduct Committee of the General Teaching Council for Wales, sitting in Cardiff, banned Miss Black from teaching indefinitely
Miss Black, 28, did part of her teacher training at Monmouth Comprehensive School and was then employed for one term on a temporary contract from 1st September to 31st December 2010 as maternity leave cover.
Monmouthshire County Council said there were no concerns or issues raised with the school during this time.
Miss Black's actions, which amounted to "unacceptable professional conduct", took place between February and June 2011.
Having heard mitigating evidence and taking into account Miss Black's written submissions "demonstrating remorse but only limited insight," committee chairman Peter Williams said: "The conduct in question seriously affected pupils and was not an isolated lapse.
"Miss Black's actions are fundamentally incompatible with being a registered teacher."
