Two ballet performances will delight audiences at The Blake Theatre today and later this week.
On stage on Saturday December 10 will be the classic fairy tale Beauty and the Beast brought to life by touring company Ballet Theatre UK.
This spectacular production, inspired by the original tale, tells the story of Belle, a beautiful and intelligent young woman who feels out of place in her provincial French village. When her father is imprisoned in a mysterious castle, Belle’s attempt to rescue him leads to her capture by the Beast, a grisly and fearsome monster. Little does she know that he is a Prince cursed by a magical Enchantress. The only way the Beast may become human again is if he learns to love and be loved in return. Ballet Theatre UK’s renowned company of international dancers, beautiful costumes and glittering stage sets combine to create a magnificent spectacle, all set to a glorious and magical score.
On the cinema screen at The Blake Theatre today, Thursday December 8 will be The Royal Ballet’s performance of Christmas favourite, The Nutcracker.
Audiences can join Clara at a delightful Christmas Eve party that becomes a magical adventure once everyone else is tucked up in bed. Set to Tchaikovsky’s brilliant score, The Nutcracker tells the tale of Clara and her enchanted Nutcracker as they fight the Mouse King and visit the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Prince in the glittering Kingdom of Sweets.
Tickets are proving very popular with ballet fans coming from all over Monmouthshire and beyond for these enchanting tales.
Beauty and the Beast will be on stage at The Blake Theatre, this Saturday December 10 at 3pm.
The Nutcracker will be on screen beamed live from London on Thursday December 8 at 7:15pm. Tickets are available online at theblaketheatre.org or by calling the Box Office on 01600 719401.
