Neighbours flocked to the Jubilee Family Fun Day at Rockfield Park Community Centre and enjoyed an action-packed events programme.
Funded by Monmouth Town Council, the party included balloon art, a bouncy castle, samba drumming, belly dancing and bubbles.
The Unusual Pets and Creepy Crawly Encounters stall was a firm favourite, offering close-ups with hissing cockroaches and a tarantula, plus a whip-tail scorpion.
A dress-up tent with cut outs of the Queen, plus royal guards and corgis gave visitors the opportunity for a snap with royalty.
And staff from Monmouth Fire Station entertained children with the chance to explore on of their fire engines.
Local mum and co-organiser Ciara Perry even composed a song for younger partygoers to belt out on stage.
Guests were also treated to a visit from the Queen – 86-year-old Betty Lane who donned some royal regalia and took to the throne for some selfie fun.
The event was organised by local mother of three Caroline Thomas-Layne and a group of mums, all with children at Overmonnow Primary School.
“I’d like to thank everyone who made this a success“ said Caroline.
“Rockfield Rovers for use of their football pitch, groundsman Lee Davies, Andrea Michael for painting the props and Monmouth Fire Station.”
The group would also like to thank Rockfield Community Centre for offering a generous discount on the building hire.
