National Highways is advising drivers using the Ross Road A49 into Hereford to plan their journeys next week and allow extra time ahead of planned maintenance.
Road closures and traffic management will be needed between Greyfriars Bridge and Walnut Tree Avenue to allow for vegetation clearance, drainage repairs, and road resurfacing to provide a smoother and safer carriageway for drivers.
The work will be carried out overnight when traffic flows are low to keep disruption to a minimum and fully signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures.
Road closures and traffic management
Monday, 9 September to Saturday 14 September, 8pm to 6am: temporary traffic lights between Ross Road/Asda Roundabout to Ross Road/Walnut Tree Avenue.
Monday, 16 September to Friday, 20 September, 8pm to 6am: full closure, in both directions, between Ross Road/Asda Roundabout to Ross Road/Walnut Tree Avenue.
Monday, 23 September to Wednesday, 23 October, 8pm to 6am on weeknights: temporary traffic lights between Ross Road/Asda Roundabout to Ross Road/Walnut Tree Avenue.
During October, there will also be two additional full overnight closures on dates to be confirmed.
Access to properties and for emergency service vehicles will be maintained via escort vehicle.
