With the problem of dwindling – and increasingly expensive – oil supplies coupled with the problems of climate change, the Transition Movement aims to develop a new post-oil, low-carbon economy.
A small band of volunteers has been using the transition model to adapt Monmouth for a greener, more sustainable future and the results of their efforts were rewarded last Friday when Transition Monmouth was launched by Patrick Holden, Director of the Soil Association. He described how his life had been changed by Rob Hopkins, founder of the Transition Movement.
Transition Monmouth has separate groups working on Local Food, Health & Wellbeing, Sustainable Travel, Housing and Energy. Anyone wishing to join should contact Simon Brown on 07841 870020 or [email protected]">[email protected].
