A Christmas journey in flowers
Gloria Davies took the audience on a wonderful Christmas Journey‚ at the Ross and District Floral Society open evening at the John Kyrle High School. This was an inspirational demonstration with vibrant colours and great use of very varied plant material, with very original plant containers Gloria's first arrangement was the interpretation of the Angel who visited the Virgin Mary, the main flowers used were longiflorum lilies and wind flower blue anemones, it was very elegant and regal. Bethlehem‚ No Room at the Inn, with Mary, Joseph and the babe, was the second arrangement and it was very lovely. The main flowers here were lovely pale green antheriums, purple dendrobin orchids and pale green carnations. A stunning arrangement to represent the Three Kings was next. First Gloria brought out a wicker cornet shaped basket with a red drape swirling down to the base, then she created the arrangement in the top. First she placed an umbrella fern, and then added the flowers. The theme of this arrangement was vibrant pink, and she used bright pink carnations, roses and dendrobin orchids. The Gloria did her Blue Peter act and brought out two larger pots each in different stunning oranges, yellows and reds. The combination was a truly magnificent interpretation of the Three Kings. There was a different theme to the next arrangement which depicted Santa Claus coming down the chimney. The main arrangement was done as a fire basket in the grate and included Christmas tree foliage, ivy, holly then wonderful reds of carnations and bright red antierams. The last of her arrangements was called Rejoice‚ this was in reds and golds with golden palms, red roses, bright red carnations and bright red anthierums made a spectacular finale. Gloria then thanked everyone for joining her on her Christmas Journey and sang to the audience in Welsh, this talented lady also has a wonderful voice.
