Firefighters are at the scene of a major blaze in Monmouth.
A building on Monk Street is alight, with eye witnesses spotting flames through the windows.
The call came into the fire service at about 2.20pm.
There are multiple fire crews at the scene.
It is believed to be a Georgian house.
The surrounding roads are gridlocked and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
Monmouth Comprehensive School has Tweeted to parents of pupils, warning them of traffic chaos.
It said: "Further to our email to parents, we confirm there is an ongoing incident in town which will result in traffic delays in the area."
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service took to social media to thank the public for their calls, adding: "We are currently in attendance at a fire on Monk Street in Monmouth.
"Crews are currently at the scene working to extinguish the fire."
