Children suffering with cystic fibrosis will receive much-needed support thanks to CF Warriors and funding from Tesco.

Welsh charity CF Warriors has received £6,500 in grants from the supermarket’s Stronger Starts scheme to provide more care and support to those living with cystic fibrosis across the South of Wales.

In Chepstow, children will receive life-enhancing Warrior Pack Programmes.

These Programmes packs contain sports clothing and accessories as well as CF Warrior branded pill boxes, wristbands and panda teddy bears to make these children feel part of a community.

The charity was created by Cowbridge resident, Joshua Llewellyn-Jones OBE, who was born with Cystic Fibrosis in 1987. The charity is dedicated to helping children with the condition live healthier, happier, and longer lives through exercise.

Joshua said: "One of the main problems children with cystic fibrosis face is a feeling of isolation. Due to the risk of cross infection, CF sufferers are advised to keep their distance from one another, so they can't socialise in groups.

“We created Warrior Packs for children with cystic fibrosis to help them feel like part of a community, to let them know that they are not alone in the fight against this terrible disease and to empower them to be the best they can be. The packs are designed to motivate children to stay as fit and healthy as possible.

“We can't thank Tesco and every community across South Wales enough for helping us expand this programme even further.”

The grants will also allow them to begin to partner with cystic fibrosis units around the country to get packs to children when they attend clinics for their annual reviews, and when they need a boost to their morale the most.

Claire de Silva, Head of Community at Tesco, said: “It’s great seeing amazing charities such as CF Warriors receive such a plethora of grants and support. Wales has always been a country that is big on community and here at Tesco we will always strive to champion local charities and causes, so it is the perfect match.”
